In our ceaseless efforts to find a mud-free walk, we have abandoned the walk in Clocaenog Forest on 18th. February. Instead, we are heading for the hills and intending to do a 9 mile B walk near Abergwyngregyn. This starts at the Spinnies Nature Reserve and takes in the sun-kissed sands of Traeth Lafan (dry if we miss high tide), before a gruelling climb above Aber (giving panoramic views of the coast) to follow the ridge west on a gently descending track and drop back down to the coast. With luck, the only ‘damp’ area will be at the end of the walk when we pass through a dairy farm; gaiters essential.
