Sunday 8 March: Nercwys Forest and Bryn Alyn about 8.5/9 miles with 1400ft ascent usual start time 9.00 at Upton Library
This walk is a varied mix of rough pasture, old enclosed tracks, farmland, lanes, forest tracks and paths. En route we’ll see much industrial archaeology and may even enjoy some views. We walk over the upper flanks of Bryn Alyn, the main ascent of the day, with optional summit visit. A short detour can be made to view The Ramblers Chalet.
It’s over limestone so there are some nice bits of springy turf but also exposed rock, which can be slippery when wet. Expect (mainly thin) mud, puddles and, if it goes on raining, one stretch of path running with water.
