Sunday Walks Grading System – usually 8-10 miles.
Walks that can include rural tracks and paths, canal towpaths, lanes and fields and with occasional uneven terrain underfoot. There may be one or two gentle hills with little height gain.
Walks similar to the D grade routes but with a number of gentle or short ascents and descents throughout. Underfoot the terrain will sometimes be uneven.
Besides the features included in the lower grades, these routes will include steeper and longer hills. They may cross rugged and very uneven terrain such as moorland where there is no formed path or track.
These walks will involve all the above features, but will involve prolonged and usually steep ascents requiring climbing effort over 1 to 3 hours. There would often be mountainous terrain and occasionally scrambles.
